=The Aspergers Sonnets=

13.
We reserve the right. When we hear a seagull
we say “don’t touch!” There was a time
when the answer to everything wasn’t
"it’s not too late" but that time was so half
an hour ago it’s funnier than that now.
You can’t step into the same picture twice.
“Always again” is not something you’ll never
hear from our lips! Pour yourself another
it’s going to be a long day’s journey
into light. What everyone knows is a joke
is a poke in the eye to a blind man.
There are no gods in a trench foot. And,
for that matter, fire in the mole! The unclaimed
crutch stands outside the spoken door.

Because of things that happened beyond
our control we are no longer able. Every man
and every woman is afar. Finally a conditioner
the whole family can use. I’m not going to hell
you again. Haven’t you been listening
to a single word in my head? Once you’ve seen it
in action, you never forget the purpose of a maggot.
Nine eyes have seen the fury of the slamming
of the door. Opportunity knocks
but so does the Gestapo. Ask your doctor.
Write you congressman. Call this number now.
But wait.  Just change their hair color and most people
never recognize themselves in a story. You didn’t.
Our lips are congealed.
